Youth Ministeryouthministrysanangelocathedral.orgWelcome to Sacred Heart’s ministry page! My name is Cameron Wilson and I am one of the Youth Ministers for Sacred Heart’s Youth Ministry Program.
I have been a Registered Nurse for 14+ years, and I am the Nursing Programs Coordinator for Shannon Medical Center. I coordinate our Nurse Intern Program, Nurse Residency Program, Nurse Mentor Program, and Shannon’s Nurse Career Ladder. I also liaison between academic institutions and work with our Human Resources Department to recruit nurses and future nurses to our organization. I received my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Texas, Arlington, with a dissertation focus on brain-based learning and immersive gamification in the classroom. In short, for retention, learning must be designed in light of how the human mind works while being meaningful and engaging (Wilson, 2022). I am currently back in school for my Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate through Angelo State University.
Sacred Heart Cathedral has been my home parish since 2014 and you’ll typically find my family and I at the 10 am Sunday Mass. I am a convert to the Catholic faith. While citing many reasons for joining the Catholic Church, I believe St. Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch, perfectly sums up the reason behind my conversion, “Make no mistake, my brothers…observe a single Eucharist. For there is one flesh of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and one cup of his blood that makes us one, and one altar, just as there is one bishop along with the presbytery…in that way whatever you do is in line with God’s will.” I also attribute my conversion to our Blessed Mother, Mary, who called me from a very young age. I am definitely “home” now.
I am married to the love of my life, Quinton, and we are blessed with our daughter, Madeleine, a very active four-year-old who always keeps us smiling. As animal lovers, we have one dog and two cats. I enjoy exercise, particularly running, traveling, cooking/baking, gardening, reading, anything outdoors, and every minute I’m able to spend with my family. I also enjoy volunteer work and am a member of the Junior League of San Angelo.
